You should not be worried, government prioritises your welfare - Interior Minister assures security agencies

The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving the welfare and operational conditions of security personnel under the Ministry of the Interior.

Speaking during an engagement with security services at the Ho Technical University auditorium as part of his working visit to the Volta Region, the Minister acknowledged the critical role security officers play in maintaining peace, stability, and public safety across the country.

According to him, the government recognizes the sacrifices made by security personnel and remains focused on addressing their welfare needs to enable them to perform their duties effectively.

“Security personnel play a critical role in ensuring peace and stability in this country. Your welfare is equally important so you can continue the hard work of keeping our nation safe,” he said.

“You should not be worried. Government prioritizes you.”

Muntaka outlined several initiatives currently being pursued to improve the working conditions of officers and strengthen the operational capacity of the security services.

These measures include the mechanization of rent allowances through the payroll system, improvements in office accommodation, the provision of logistics and operational vehicles, and the facilitation of promotions for qualified personnel.

The Minister also assured officers that concerns raised during the engagement would receive the necessary attention and consideration.

He pledged to work with relevant authorities to review the issues presented and implement practical solutions where necessary.

In a separate meeting with non-security agencies operating under the Ministry of the Interior, Muntaka commended staff for their contributions to public service delivery and national development.

He assured them of his commitment to addressing challenges affecting their work to improve efficiency and service delivery across the sector.

The Interior Minister concluded his visit by expressing appreciation to the Volta Regional Minister, regional security commanders, and personnel for their support and cooperation throughout the tour.

The stakeholder engagements form part of a broader strategy by the Minister to strengthen collaboration among key institutions, promote peace and social cohesion, and address security concerns across the country.

Since assuming office, Muntaka has prioritized consultations with security agencies and stakeholders as part of efforts to build stronger partnerships for peacebuilding and national security.
