Hoshii International Limited announced as major sponsor for African Athletics Championships Accra 2026

Ghana has received a major boost ahead of the African Senior Athletics Championships, with Hoshii International officially unveiled as headline sponsors and strategic partners for the continental event set to take place in Accra.

The announcement was made by the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, as preparations intensify for the championships scheduled for May 12–17, 2026, at the University of Ghana Stadium. The event is expected to attract top athletes from across Africa, positioning Ghana at the center of continental athletics.

Describing the agreement as a historic breakthrough, Bawa Fuseini, President of Ghana Athletics, highlighted the scale and significance of the sponsorship. He noted that this marks the first time a single corporate entity has committed such substantial support to athletics in Ghana.

“This is the first time we are seeing a single sponsor come in at this magnitude for athletics in Ghana. It is very significant for us,” he stated. He further emphasized that, unlike previous sponsorships which were fragmented, this partnership represents a unified and long-term commitment that extends beyond just the upcoming championships.

According to Fuseini, the deal could serve as a catalyst for increased private sector involvement in sports. He expressed optimism that the move by Hoshii International would inspire other corporate organizations in Ghana to invest in athletics and sports development more broadly.

Sports Minister Kofi Adams welcomed the partnership, describing it as a timely and impactful intervention as Ghana prepares to host a major continental event. He praised the company’s willingness to invest in sports, noting that such contributions play a vital role in national development.

“As we approach Accra 2026, we are happy to announce a strong partner that has come in at this level to support the championships,” he said. He also pointed out that corporate sponsorship in sports comes with incentives, including tax deductions, making it beneficial for businesses while contributing to national progress.

The Minister further assured stakeholders that transparency and accountability would be upheld throughout the partnership to ensure that sponsors derive value from their investments and that resources are effectively utilized.

Meanwhile, the Marketing Manager of Hoshii International outlined the company’s vision, stating that the partnership is focused on enhancing athlete performance and supporting the long-term growth of sports in Ghana. She also highlighted the company’s flagship product, the X1 Energy Drink, noting that it is certified and safe for athletes, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to health, performance, and excellence.

With strong corporate backing and growing institutional support, Ghana is positioning itself to deliver a successful edition of the African Senior Athletics Championships, while also setting a new standard for sports sponsorship and development in the country.
