President John Dramani Mahama has returned to Ghana following his participation in the Africa Forward Summit held in Nairobi, where African heads of state, global policymakers, financial leaders and development partners gathered to discuss the future of Africa’s economic growth and sustainable development.
The summit was jointly hosted by William Ruto and Emmanuel Macron and focused on key issues affecting the continent, including energy transition, healthcare transformation, climate resilience, economic reforms and the strengthening of African financial institutions.
During the summit, President Mahama participated in several high-level engagements aimed at advancing Africa’s development agenda. He joined discussions on renewable energy and green transition initiatives, where leaders explored strategies to improve energy access, attract climate financing and promote sustainable industrial growth across African economies.
The Ghanaian leader also took part in a strategic working session centered on strengthening African financial institutions and improving regional economic cooperation. Discussions highlighted the need for stronger continental financing systems capable of supporting infrastructure development, trade expansion and long-term economic stability.
In addition, President Mahama co-chaired a major dialogue focused on transforming healthcare systems in Africa. The session examined ways to improve healthcare delivery, strengthen public health infrastructure and increase investment in medical innovation and disease prevention across the continent.
On the sidelines of the summit, President Mahama held bilateral meetings with several influential global leaders and development partners. These included talks with Kristalina Georgieva, António Guterres, officials from the African Continental Free Trade Area, and representatives of the International Fund for Agricultural Development.
The meetings focused on economic cooperation, sustainable agriculture, international financing opportunities and regional trade integration. The engagements further reinforced Ghana’s commitment to international partnerships, economic transformation and sustainable national development.
Government officials say President Mahama’s participation in the summit reflects Ghana’s active role in shaping Africa’s future and strengthening collaboration with global institutions to address shared challenges.
